Embracing the IT World

Technology has transformed life as we know it, and the classroom looks much different than it did 50—or even 10—years ago. Traditional chalkboards have been replaced with digital whiteboards, and classrooms have a surplus of iPads. Yet, in our rural and less privileged areas; seeing or actually benefiting from these things could be another 50 years away.

Each child the classroom is different, and it can be challenging to adjust the learning plan to fit every student. Fortunately, technology in education can help modify those lessons. By teaching students skills like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, you can help set your students up for success. Introducing instructional technology in the classroom at a young age can help prepare students for future digital demands.

So, we partnered with GIFEC to allow some of our Upper Primary and JHS students the opportunity to learn the basic functions of a computer and Microsoft Word. At the end of the two weeks, each students was able to create their own word document with some tweeks added to it. Technology will undoubtedly continue to evolve, and it’s important to adjust to align with its advancements.
